Display Pixel Defect Warranty Policy

General Terms

Dot defects—commonly known as bright or dark spots on LCD panels or “pixel defects”—are inherent to LCD manufacturing and cannot be entirely eliminated. Dot defects that fall within the acceptance criteria defined in this Display Pixel Defect Warranty Policy are excluded from BASCO’s warranty coverage. Claims related to dot defects that exceed these acceptance thresholds must be submitted within one month from the date the product is shipped by BASCO. After this period, BASCO will not provide repair or replacement services for pixel-related issues.

Definition of a Dot Defect

Dot failures, which appear as bright or dark spots on the panel, are an unavoidable characteristic of TFT technology. While many pixel defects form during production, additional defects may develop over the operational lifespan of a TFT display. These phenomena are not influenced by BASCO during either the manufacturing of the LCD module by the supplier or the product’s usage after delivery. Therefore, BASCO cannot assume responsibility for such occurrences. However, BASCO is committed to supplying new displays of reliable quality and acknowledges limited responsibility for dot defects discovered in new products under the conditions outlined in the Warranty Limitations section of this policy.

Warranty Limitations

Each pixel is composed of three sub-pixels (Red, Green, and Blue).

Dot defects fall into two categories:

• Bright dot defects: Sub-pixels or pixels that remain continuously illuminated (ON) and do not dim.
• Dark dot defects: Sub-pixels or pixels that remain continuously unlit (OFF) and do not illuminate.

Inspection is performed with the LCD panel positioned on a worktable and viewed perpendicularly from a distance of 50 cm.

• Dark dots are counted on a full-white display.
• Bright dots are counted on a full-black display.

Dot defects within the following tolerance levels are not eligible for warranty claims:

• Bright dot defects: ≤ 4
• Dark dot defects: ≤ 7
• Combined bright and dark dot defects: ≤ 8
• Adjacent dot defects (two neighboring bright or dark dots in vertical, horizontal, or diagonal alignment): ≤ 2 pairs
  • One or two adjacent dot defects are counted as one defect.
• Minimum distance between two dot defects: ≥ 15 mm

If clouding effects (mura)—areas of uneven luminance—are detectable using an ND filter of ≤ 2%, the defect is covered under this warranty. If not detectable under this condition, the defect is excluded from warranty coverage.

Backlight Modules (LED)

Backlight brightness naturally decreases over time when the display is in regular use. BASCO’s display warranty does not cover replacement of backlight modules whose brightness or performance has diminished due to normal operation.
